NOTICES

Dial-a-sermon
If you don’t have access to a computer then you might want to access St James’ sermons on your landline. If you dial 0208 016 2333 I’m hopeful you will be able to listen to our most recent sermon. It’s a local number and so will cost you accordingly – many of us have free minutes as part of our telephone bill and so we’re hoping the cost is minimal to none for those who use it.

A Message from the vicars

Hello St James,

Last week it was novel and new; it’s beginning to dawn on us that we will be doing this for quite a bit longer.
The pandemic will continue to hit closer and closer to home as the situation develops: members of St James have already caught, and survived, the corona virus. Many are still working in vital areas and putting themselves at risk. The anxiety and fear that comes from the virus itself and our worry for our loved ones is very real but we are committed to supporting each other and we continue to trust in our God and Saviour.

Some positives: Praying online each night on Facebook has been a new and moving experience. We are growing in competence and it has been a place where people from St James can congregate and pray together. Thank you Manisha for being brave enough to lead us in Hindi on Thursday night. We would welcome anyone willing to pray into a camera (phone or computer) to share & lead us in a bible verse or a song in their own language. We will continue to meet each weekday evening at 8pm on our church Facebook Group. If you need help accessing this then please do call.

In the meantime, look out for a package on your doorstep or through your letterbox containing a palm cross (for April 5th) and “Holy week in a box”. Maybe we can do this together at the same time each day? We’re hoping that this will lead us through this special time and focus our prayers.

Stay focussed on Jesus, stay loving, stay resilient as we stand on the rock of Jesus shining his light together.
With love and prayers,

undefinedAli & Steve

Sunday 22nd March 2020 Week 4

A Message from the Vicars

Dear St James family,

We know that this week has been a little crazy and to be told we cannot meet to worship is difficult to hear, however sensible the thinking behind it. Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever and we do not stop being His children and brothers and sisters to each other simply because we are not in the usual building on the usual day.

As St James, we will continue to pray, to worship and to support one another because this is who we have said we are:

Our vision:  We are standing on the rock of Jesus, shining his light to all we meet:

Our values: Focussed on Jesus, loving and resilient.

Our communities need us to shine Jesus’ light by remaining focussed on Him, to keep on being loving to each other and to those around us and to stay resilient in the calling He has placed upon us.

It is fine to be worried, it is human to want to protect ourselves from danger but we are also called to demonstrate our trust in God.

We will find ways of sharing prayer and encouragement with each other over the coming weeks and will pass on all information as we have it.

With our love and prayers:
